Onondaga County is a located in midwestern New York. It is the home to the city of Syracuse, which has a significant portion of Onondaga county's population. Onondaga County has a total area of approximately 806 square miles of which 97% is land and 3% water. As of the census² of 2000, there were 458,336 people, 181,153 households, and 115,394 families residing in the Onondaga county.
